All Things
My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth! Psalm 121:2
The Psalmist starts with the reality that Lord, the one who made everything. The phrase “heaven and earth” is an idiom for “all things”. Think about that for a second: the Psalmist believes you will find help from the Creator of all things!
The God who breathed into being butterflies. The God who chases the lilies. The God of narwhals, nightingales, and nighthawks. The God who caused every leaf to sprout this spring and who now can tell you the shade and hue of each and every one as he carries them from branch to ground. The God of black holes, the sun, the moon, countless galaxies, and you! He has made us all and we are perfect in His sight.
God is so good and so rich in all good things (like grace, mercy, kindness) that He saw us in need of a Savior and gave us His only son to do that job. This means, in His perfection, He desired to perfect all things, including you and me.
Of course, if you believe God is the creator of all things, who wouldn’t want his help! What could he not do?! But the question everyone would ask is, “would he?” Would he help me and you? The answer to that is an overwhelming yes!
Today, receive His love and care.
