Your Keeper
The Lord is your keeper… Psalm 121:5
Psalm 121 is a song that the believer needs to hear and sing in and out of season, but especially seasons of distress, doubt, and fear. For here we are reminded that the triune God is our good and gracious Keeper.
In distress, where does your help come from? The Psalmist encourages it comes from the Lord. And this is really the best place to start with. No matter what our circumstances are, even if they seem insurmountable and impossible, look up. ‘My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth’ (verse 2). And it does not end there. The psalm continues beautifully, verse 5 – ‘The Lord is your keeper’. I’ve been meditating on that awesome truth for the past week, to allow it to sink into my spirit. When we’ve submitted our lives into the care of the Lord He becomes our keeper.
If the mountains around you suddenly look terrifying, remember who made the mountains, the valleys, and the hills. Your God built each to this precise height,/depth down to the tiniest fraction of an inch and can walk you through them all.
Read Psalm 121 and let it sink into your spirit. Lift up your eyes to the keeper. He’s with you, and there is no problem too big or too small for our amazing God.
