Walking the walk – Part I
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus has to be one of the great major keys to walking in faith to keep us safely advancing in the narrow way. There is so much of God’s word which points us to live by faith (hope) and not by sight (despair). The believer knows that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). The righteous will live by faith (Romans 1:17). The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God (Galatians 2:20). Without faith it is impossible to please God (Romans 11:6). This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith (1 John 5:4).
So, walking by faith and not by sight means that we live today according to God’s promises, even though we cannot see them, and not according to the temporary, arbitrary things that our eyes often focus on here on earth. God’s word encourages us to be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. (1 Corinthians 16:13) So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith (Galatians 3:26) that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
