God Hears You
Hear my voice when I call, Lord; be merciful to me and answer me. Psalm 27:7
A growing child soon learns that when they call on, either ‘Mommy or Daddy’, someone will come running, especially if it seems that the child is in need of help. And the louder or more troublesome the cry, the more urgent will be the response of the parents. If our children have learned this, then we too once as a child learned this as well. So what happened? How did we forget this as adults?
The Lord loves His children – you and me, we never stop being God’s kids! – and longs to hear their voice as they reach out to Him in faith and trust.
Remember we are made in the image and likeness of God so if, as parents, we have an instinctive desire to be always listening for the voice of our children and be running to help them, if necessary, then we should always remember that we learned to respond in this way from our Heavenly Father. This is His nature and character. Psalm 34:15 and 17 express it this way: “The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry . . . the righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.”
Prayer for today: Father! Today I call on Your name. Thank You, Lord, that You are ever ready and willing to listen to our cries and hear our prayers. Amen.
