You Have A Choice
I am determined to keep your decrees to the very end. Psalm 119:112
Do you ever find yourself doing things that you don’t really want to do? That is because there is a battle in your brain between the old, sinful nature that is, and the new, born again follower of Christ, you. The psalmist gives us a beautiful sentiment here that we can all acknowledge and relate to. We must be determined, that is we must make a conscious decision to choose God’s way when it comes to living forever and to the very end.
The Word of God is truly the light that directs our steps. You have a choice. Your mind has to listen to you. God didn’t give you just a mind. He gave you a will! What we choose to do with that free will, will determine the length or the path of the journey in which we are on. This is why the Psalmist instructs us, it is best we “made up my mind to obey your laws forever, no matter what” (Psalm 119:112 CEV). The joy of following the Word of God here is turned into a fuel to continue on this journey no matter what. It is because he has tasted and seen that the Lord is good that he turns his heart, to actively obey the rules and regulations of God. This is no temporary strategy. This is a lifelong battle plan –forever even to the end.
Today I invite you to join me in this steadfast determination, to follow God’s ways until the end. Let the words of our Lord Jesus conclude this thought: You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. – Matthew 5:14-16
