It’s Time to Fight
So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” and He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.” 1 Samuel 30:8
There are times we ought to weep, then there are times in which we must get up and fight. As I read through the Old Testament, I find my faith greatly encouraged by this account written in 1 Samuel 30. Here is the scene: David and his band of 600 loyal men were on the run from King Saul, who had been trying to kill him. At one point the small army encamped in a town called Ziklag, where they settled their families. From there they went out to do battle, leaving their wives and children safely behind. When they returned an awful calamity struck the men. The enemy came in and stole all that was there. David, not knowing where to go, went to God. I am awed by David’s determination to get a word from God in the midst of his perilous time. David says ‘bring me the ephod’ and sought the Lord and in response, God instructed David to go out and fight for he shall recover it all.
It is time to fight back for the things the enemy has come into your camp and stolen from you. Time to fight back for your peace and your joy. Time to fight back for your relationship with God. Time to fight back for your marriage. Time to fight back for the hearts of your kids to fight back for our financial freedom to fight back for your health to fight back for our community to fight back for your vision to fight back for everything that God has promised to you.
When life begins to dry up in areas that God has given to you, do not remain in the valley and die. That is the time to pursue their hearts and say no matter what it takes and no matter what it costs, we are going to work this out! Take up your sword and fight for what is rightfully yours.
Your greatest victory is just on the other side of this fight.
Prayer for today: Lord, I’m weary. My energy is sagging, and my motivation is lagging as everything around me is removed. Lord, I am in need of Your strength to take up the fight against the principalities and powers of this earth. I need your strength and Your fresh touch to get back on track again. Your Word says the joy of the Lord is my strength. If that’s true, then I need your joy to replace all the bone-tired parts of my mind, body, and soul. Amen
