Wait for it

Wait for it
Jacob was left alone. And a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day. Genesis 32:23
Everyone knows there are different ways of learning things. For example, we might be able to learn mathematics quite well from a book or how to fix a leak through YouTube. Other things we can learn more easily through observation. Or we might watch someone cook a meal, and in this way learn how to prepare a new dish. But there are some things which can only really be learnt by doing them. We have to go through the experience ourselves. A good example of this is learning a new sport. No one has ever become a soccer champion by reading books or watching UEFA Champions League on TV!
God is the best teacher in the world, and one of the things He needs to teach us is how to wait. Waiting is an important skill. While we wait, we grow in faith and in dependence on Him. Our character gets molded and our relationship with God deepens. Waiting is an important part of walking with God.
It’s a pity that waiting can’t be learnt from a book. Really, if it were that easy then we’d all become experts overnight. Unfortunately that is not the case and the only thing is for us to go through the experience and learn the hard way.
Waiting is hard.
It challenges us deeply.
It stretches our faith.
It cuts us and sometimes leaves a scare
It tests our obedience.
Yet, we know that anything in life worth waiting for is worth having. While we are waiting, we don’t know how long it will be before we receive what we want. It might be days, months or years. Only God knows when the wait will be over, until then we must remain faithful and understand that time is in God’s hand and know that His promises are secure.
