Glass Jar
Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD Almighty. Zechariah 4:6
I am sure we have all experienced trying to open a jar, only to realize you don’t have enough strength. What happens next? You try again and if that does not work, you bring the jar to someone with a stronger grip and ask them for help. This an imagery of the words written in Zechariah 4:6 “Then he said to me, “This [continuous supply of oil] is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel [prince of Judah], saying, ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit [of whom the oil is a symbol],’ says the Lord of hosts.” – AMP.
Jesus concluded His ministry on earth not with His death on the cross, or even with his resurrection or ascension into heaven, but with his outpouring of the Spirit on the church at Pentecost. It was by sending the Spirit to God’s people on earth that Jesus empowered his disciples to carry on with his own work. Just as the jar cannot be opened with the strength of man, we cannot walk on this journey with man alone we need the Spirit of God.
If we rely on God’s Spirit, then we can take on the challenges of life. The Spirit is Christ’s gift, not a power we can “plug into” or whip up through some technological intervention instead, it is where there is faith in Christ and humble reliance on God’s power. By His Spirit is where God is glorified instead of man.
Today if you are looking to make an impact, if you are looking to take on a challenge in this life then rely on the Spirit of God to help you. His Spirit is there to comfort and correct.
