Humble Yourself
Come close to God and He will come close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8
In the New American Standard Bible James chapter 4 is titled – Things to Avoid. Why must we avoid it? So we aren’t tainting the heart. Gratitude is the overflow of a humble heart, just as surely as an ungrateful heart overflows with complaining and whining flows out of a proud heart. Why is it so important to humble ourselves? In order to give thanks to God you must humble yourself recognizing His mighty hand in our life.
It is recognizing that all that you are is not because of your upbringing, any special talents or abilities that you may have, where you were born or what school you went to, nor how much money you have; it’s all because of Gods mercy and grace.
A humble person thinks much of God and others and little of himself.
A humble person recognizes that anything he has is better than he deserves.
A humble person is grateful for the kindness that was shown unto him, knowing it is so much more than he deserves.
Today humble yourself before the Lord. Understand we are not deserving any of His favor but yet He still shows it and begin to give Him thanks. Be quick to give God thanks for everything so that He can in turn bless you for humility.
