First Peace, Then Joy

First Peace, Then Joy
Happy is he who keeps the law. Proverbs 29:18
Peace is a wonderful feeling. We know it when we have it, and we all want more of it. When I focus on Jesus in all circumstances of life, we can also receive His peace no matter what is happening. Living in peace is possible in every aspect of our day — from the moment we wake up in the mornings, throughout the day as we work and attend school, and in the evenings when we return home. Wherever we are going, we can walk confidently and have peace. First His peace, and then comes the joy!
Joy comes from knowing God is in control of our lives and that I can trust Him, no matter what. Joy is not a feeling one experiences only when life is good and everyone is happy, no. Joy is a choice we have to make every single day no matter what is happening. When we accept the peace of God we can choose to fill our hearts with faith and gratitude and experience joy.
Today, choose to bask in the safety of the Lord’s care. Trust in Him enough to allow His peace and presence to fill our whole being. Hope and joy becomes our strength and God lifts us out of the darkness and confusion.
Prayer for today: Dear Lord, thank You so much that You never give up on me and that You always steer me back to You, no matter how confused I sometimes feel. Help me to keep my eyes focused on You and not on my circumstances. Please fill me with Your peace and presence so that Your joy may be released from within my whole being. Today I accept Your peace and choose joy. Thank you Father for loving me. Amen.
