Safe in God
But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3
Nowadays, the news, the newspapers, and even social media are full of bad news. It’s like searching for salt amongst the sand to find anything positive in what’s being reported. Finding any encouraging and good news has become such a scarcity that we don’t even bother to look for it. Waiting for it from the newspapers would be setting ourselves up for disappointment, as the world has become more unsafe, full of insecurities, fear and social uncertainties. So where do we go? In these moments we cling to the never changing word of God.
Scripture tells us that our life is hidden in God (Galatians 2:20). This is as safe as one can ever get. Yes, our nations and the world may be in turmoil and uncertainties, but we can be assured of our security in God. Yes, our mortal bodies may be in danger and will – soon or eventually – die, but our real life is hidden with Christ in God.
The good news is that there is an assured safest place! Today’s Scripture reminds us that, if we’re in Christ, we can be assured of His security, and thus continue to live with a sense of safety in the midst of all the insecurities and uncertainties of our world today.
Prayer for today: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that I’m safe in You. You alone have the answers to the troubles of this world and while you may not reveal them to us, we can trust that You remain in control of it all. Thank You that my life is hidden with Christ in You. Help me to live my days on this earth with that confidence and hope, and communicate it to those around me. In Jesus’ name! Amen.
