Monday Morning Manna
But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
In this life there will come a time where you’ll find yourself at a dead end. Feeling defeated because you’ve come to the conclusion that you’re unable to do something, either because you haven’t really tried, or because you did try, but in the wrong way. The verse for today is found in Matthew 19:26 “With men it is impossible, but with God all things are possible”. Trusting in yourself to find a solution to whatever you are facing today indeed will leave you feeling tired, depressed, burnt out and frustrated. Why? Because in your strength it seems impossible, but in God’s hands all things are possible. For in life, there are things that are impossible and then there are things that are only God possible.
God has no limitations…..He has unlimited power and ability. There is nothing He cannot do. Throughout the Bible we find God working in the impossible. In fact, when we think about it we don’t see God doing anything normal. In the Old Testament, to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt, He sent 10 plagues. Later on God led them with a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. Fast forward to the New Testament, when it came time to spread the gospel, our Savior selected a group of fishermen, tax collectors, and women who were uneducated to bring the message, turning the world as they knew it upside down. These are just a few examples of God working in impossible ways.
I mean, let’s be honest this sounds good, all things are possible with God but what does this mean for us today? It’s encouraging to know regardless of where you find yourself, even if it’s in a very sad state, God can work! God doesn’t do things the way we do and this we know because His word says His thoughts are not ours neither are His ways, but His ways work because all things are possible with God.
So, as we grow in maturity and learn more and more about Him, may we learn to say less and less “it’s not possible” and more and more “Lord, I simply don’t know how to do it – but I believe You can help me.” Perhaps in this way we can discover that with God nothing is impossible – even for us!
Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, I am tired. The weight is too much for me and so I hand it over to You. I am sorry for the many times I did not trust You to complete a good work within me. Please help me to have the right attitude towards Your ways. In Your precious name I ask it, Amen.
