Monday Morning Manna
For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1
Nothing changes, if nothing changes. Using Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 as the background scripture, this was the sermon title for Minister Tanisha Grandison.
According to the dictionary the word change is defined as making or becoming different. It’s amazing how many people say they want change but aren’t willing to change. Minister Grandison shared with us this quote “Change is inevitable, but misery is optional.” So many are holding onto being ‘comfortable’ even in their uncomfortable, unwelcoming, unhealed place. If you are Like the metamorphosis of a butterfly, we must change if we want to move from who we are and develop into the person God has called us to be.
The most challenging part of yesterday’s message is when Minister Grandison shared the realization that under extreme circumstances if we are not willing to change it can lead to death. If we continue to live, operate, speak, function as we always have then we will get the results that we’ve always receive. Essentially stifling the growth process and dying.
Bu there is hope, this does not have to be your ending. As our Minister Grandison said, we do not have to be stuck in a rut continually doing the same thing over and over again, Once we have committed our lives to Jesus, He comes into us by the power of the Holy Spirit enabling us to gradually accept and live out His change. Some things will be easy to change and sometimes this change will happen instantly however, there are other things that are more difficult to change. What we must understand is when Jesus died on the cross, He said it was finished once and for all. So, there is no need to hold onto the pain of yesterday when God is calling you to a new today.
Helping us to overcome ourselves and move into change Minister Grandison shared three steps from the 12 Step Recovery program. Step 1 – take a step. Admit that you need a change and then step into that change. The step of one thousand begins with the very first step. Step 2 – this move is centered on hope and faith. This step requires you to look unto the hills from whence cometh our help. Step 2 requires that you look unto God. Walk into a new direction with Gods leading. And finally step 3 – let go. Whatever the circumstances that are holding you back from becoming you, you must let go of and give it to God. This can be a scary process as it means learning to trust when perhaps trust has been shattered in the past, but Jesus is totally trustworthy and will never let us down. He is the same yesterday, today and forever!
So, I ask are you comfortable in your uncomfortable place? If the answer is yes, then you need a change. This week be encouraged and look to God for the change. The more you allow Him in, God will bring about change that He wants and the more like Him we shall become. Walk into a new chapter in your life knowing that God loves you and wants the best for His children.
Moral of the story is – Nothing changes if nothing changes.
