Monday Morning Manna
This I recall to mind, therefore I have hope. Lamentations 3:21
At different times in our lives we encounter different paths the Lord has for us. They may be pathways of healing through forgiveness, paths of inner-growth, paths of faith and trusting God for the impossible, paths of making a stand and being a light in dark places – the list can go on and on – but whatever the path may be, one thing is for sure, there’s no guarantee it’s going to be easy! Our verse for today, Lamentations 3:21 says “This I recall to mind, therefore I have hope”. Question for today – When life seems hopeless, when the going gets tough what do you recall? What is your ‘this’?
Satan is there to accuse and confuse – “If God really loved you, why did this happen?” OR “You may as well give up on believing if this is what happens.” When all along the truth is God remains our Source of strength even in times of trouble. Consider the next verse “It is the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed.” Lamentations 3:22. Things might be bad, but His mercy is still evident by the fact I am still here. When you are going through tough times, cling to these verses for in them you will find great strength. Find strength in remembering God’s goodness.
Often God’s plan is not revealed to us. Sometimes we don’t even know where the path God has us on is going, or exactly what He’s doing, but we hear Him beckoning us to trust Him and to keep going day by day, step by step. Jesus taught us that, rather than trying to figure out why a particular bad thing happens to a specific group of people, we should instead continue to remain hopeful in Him.
Each day we must ground our hope in the character of God. His covenant love will never come to an end, and He will continue to display his mercy toward his people. So, let us walk by faith in this God and not by the sight of our circumstances. For great is His faithfulness!
If you’re weary on your journey with the Lord today, or discouraged on the path that you believe the Lord has led you to – trusting, believing, standing on truth and simply being obedient – you aren’t alone! Just because the path may seem like an uphill struggle, doesn’t mean God is not there with you. Trust that God’s plan is good and He will see you through this season of life.
“God does not choose us for who we are, or how qualified we are, but rather for who He is and what He is permitted to do through our lives.” – A. W. Tozer
Prayer for today: Loving Savior, I want to follow You with all my heart and all my life. Lord, the times I get weary and afraid, please will You draw close to me, and remind me of who You are, and Your hand on my life. Lord, please give me the courage, peace, strength, and wisdom I need to follow You in every area of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
