Lamentations is a book filled with grief, pain, and suffering that came out of living in Jerusalem when it was held captive by the armies of Babylon. Horrible isn\u2019t it? Yet still we find one of the most encouraging verses in the Bible.<\/p>\n<p>Lamentations 3:21-25 reads, \u201c<em>But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. \u201cThe Lord is my portion,\u201d says my soul, \u201ctherefore I will hope in him.\u201d The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.<\/em>\u201d Read today\u2019s verses several times. In fact, I encourage you to grab for something to write with and write on. Meditate and commit this verse to memory to strengthen you during times of trouble.<\/p>\n<p>When you are going through tough times, remember these verses. Despite what their lives may look like in Babylon, these exiles held to the hope that the God who cannot lie would be faithful to His covenant promises. That is why they could declare, \u201cgreat is your faithfulness\u201d (verse 23).<\/p>\n<p>Is today the end? I don\u2019t know. But what I do know is Jesus taught us that, rather than trying to figure out why a particular bad thing happens to a specific group of people, we should instead continue to remain hopeful in Him.<\/p>\n<p>Each day we must ground our hope in the character of God. His covenant love will never come to an end, and He will continue to display his mercy toward his people. So, let us walk by faith in this God and not by the sight of our circumstances.
