{"id":639,"date":"2020-12-05T00:09:42","date_gmt":"2020-12-05T00:09:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cornerstonecem.org\/blog\/?p=639"},"modified":"2020-11-30T00:11:36","modified_gmt":"2020-11-30T00:11:36","slug":"advent-gods-presence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cornerstonecem.org\/blog\/advent-gods-presence\/","title":{"rendered":"Advent \u2013 God\u2019s Presence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>December 5-6<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Advent \u2013 God\u2019s Presence <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I was glad when they said to me, \u201cLet us go to the house of the Lord.\u201d <strong>Psalm 122:1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Psalm 122<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><sup>I<\/sup> was glad when they said to me,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet us go to the house of the Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><sup>2<\/sup> And now here we are,<\/p>\n<p>standing inside your gates, O Jerusalem.<\/p>\n<p><sup>3<\/sup> Jerusalem is a well-built city;<\/p>\n<p>its seamless walls cannot be breached.<\/p>\n<p><sup>4<\/sup> All the tribes of Israel\u2014the Lord\u2019s people\u2014<\/p>\n<p>make their pilgrimage here.<\/p>\n<p>They come to give thanks to the name of the Lord,<\/p>\n<p>as the law requires of Israel.<\/p>\n<p><sup>5<\/sup> Here stand the thrones where judgment is given,<\/p>\n<p>the thrones of the dynasty of David.<\/p>\n<p><sup>6<\/sup> Pray for peace in Jerusalem.<\/p>\n<p>May all who love this city prosper.<\/p>\n<p><sup>7<\/sup> O Jerusalem, may there be peace within your walls<\/p>\n<p>and prosperity in your palaces.<\/p>\n<p><sup>8<\/sup> For the sake of my family and friends, I will say,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMay you have peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><sup>9<\/sup> For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,<\/p>\n<p>I will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem.<\/p>\n<p>Psalm 122 is an invitation for us to look towards Jerusalem with the people of God, because the journey reflects our journey as followers of Jesus Christ. They were singing as they were gathered together to remind themselves of God\u2019s presence throughout life.\u00a0 They sang of their protection.\u00a0 They sang of God\u2019s goodness.\u00a0 They sang of God\u2019s love.\u00a0 They reminded themselves of the bigger story that they were found in.<\/p>\n<p>Advent is the season of waiting for Christ to come, a time to remember how very good it is to go to God and be in His presence. For we remember that God does not stand far off, does not ignore suffering and sin, but God enters in. God took on human flesh, felt hunger and thirst and pain. Our Lord Jesus Christ defeated sin and death. So we await Christ\u2019s coming again.
