Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 2 Corinthians 4:17

If you believe your future looks bright, no matter how dark today seems, you woke up this morning with a plan and a purpose. You will have moments in life where it will be hard to believe that all is bright and all is calm. When you find yourself in one of those moments don’t lose heart. Remember the words written for our time in Romans 8:28 ‘And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.’ God always keeps His promises and He has promised to work all things together for our good.

The difficult thing for us is waiting for the future and what God has promised us. We want it now. Just like a child who just cannot wait but to open up the birthday gifts, we want the gift of the promise now. But until then we continue to find rest in God, trusting that He is working behind the scenes.

I like the way the Message version reads 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, it says “So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever.”

In the future you’ll understand the promises of God. In the future you’ll understand how God brought good out of something that seemed anything but bright and calm. No matter what you are facing now…you can have strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow because we know the end of the story. And you’re not at the end.

Friday, November 6 It’s Already Better For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long.
