But Psalm 127 reminds us that our labor must be surrendered to God.

We can build, plan, strive, and work tirelessly, yet if the Lord is not the One building the house, our labor is ultimately in vain. The question is not simply, “Am I working hard?” The deeper question is, “Who am I working for?” God calls us to approach everything we do with a heart that is focused on Him: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” — Colossians 3:23 (NIV). When we work for the Lord, even ordinary things become meaningful. Our jobs, our responsibilities, our service, our relationships, our dreams, and even the difficult seasons of life can have eternal purpose when they are surrendered to Him.

Don’t get so focused on building our own lives, securing our future, protecting what we have, and making everything work that we forget the One who gave us the strength to build in the first place. So today, don’t just ask God to bless what you are building.

Ask Him to build it.

Prayer for Today: Lord Jesus, I have spent so much time trying to build my own life, relying on my own strength and trying to make everything work in my own way. But Your Word reminds me that unless You build the house, those who build it labor in vain. Today, I surrender my plans, my dreams, my struggles, my work, and even the things in my life that feel broken and ruined into Your hands. Forgive me for the times I have tried to do everything without You. Teach me to trust You as the builder of my life. Lord, You remain the key to the success and purpose of every struggle. Let my work bring You glory, and let my life be a testimony that when You build the house, the labor is never in vain. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Monday, September 21 Unless the Lord Builds the House Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.
