We can remember moments when there seemed to be no way forward, yet God made a way. We can remember prayers He answered, battles He carried us through, protection we didn’t even know we needed, and grace He gave us when we knew we didn’t deserve it. That is the beauty of grace.

Sometimes we become so focused on what we still need that we forget to thank God for what He has already done. We ask Him for the next blessing while overlooking the blessings already surrounding us. But gratitude changes our perspective. When we remember where God brought us from, we can trust Him with where He is taking us. When we remember that He was faithful yesterday, we can believe that He will be faithful tomorrow.

The question, “Who am I that You keep me on Your mind?”, points us back to the wonder of God’s love. We may not understand why He chooses to love us so deeply, but we don’t have to understand grace to receive it. God has been faithful. Through the highs and lows. Through answered prayers and unanswered questions. Through seasons of abundance and seasons of waiting. He has remained by our side.

Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your grace and mercy. Thank You for making a way when I could not see one. Thank You for loving me when I was undeserving and for giving me blessings I could never earn. Help me never to become so focused on what I lack that I forget everything You have already done. Give me a grateful heart that remembers Your faithfulness in every season. When I am afraid of tomorrow, remind me of how You carried me yesterday. When I feel unworthy, remind me of Your grace. When I feel alone, remind me that You have been beside me all along. I give You all the glory, because You alone are worthy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Wednesday, September 2 Remembering Who God Is Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies.
