He is our Rock a place of safety, refuge, and salvation. The hymn reminds us that our hope is not found in our own strength or what we can do for ourselves. Instead, we find refuge in Christ and in the sacrifice He made for us on the cross. His blood was shed for our sins, and because of His grace, we can find shelter in Him.

This imagery also brings to mind Moses’ encounter with God in Exodus 33. Moses asked to see God’s glory, and God placed him in the cleft of a rock, shielding him with His hand as His glory passed by. In that moment, the rock became a place of protection while also allowing Moses to experience the presence and glory of God. What a beautiful picture of our relationship with God. He is both our refuge and the One who reveals Himself to us. Today, consider the words, “Let me hide myself in Thee.” Where are you looking for security, strength, or protection? Whatever you are facing, remember that Christ is your Rock. You can run to Him, rest in Him, and trust Him.

Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, thank You for being our Rock of Ages, our place of refuge and salvation.
