My Hope is Built on Nothing Less<\/strong><\/p>\n

For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. <\/em>1 Corinthians 3:11<\/strong><\/p>\n

“My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less” is a hymn that powerfully declares the firm foundation of our faith. Written by Edward Mote, it begins with the stirring words: “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.” <\/em>From what we know of his life, \u201cMy Hope Is Built On Nothing Less\u201d was just as much an anthem. This hymn reminds us that our ultimate hope and security rest in Jesus Christ alone.<\/p>\n

What strikes me most is the line, “I dare not trust the sweetest frame.” <\/em>The word frame refers to our emotions, circumstances, or even our own understanding. There are days when life feels wonderful, and our faith seems effortless. But there are also days when our emotions betray us, circumstances crumble, and nothing feels secure.<\/p>\n

The hymn reminds us that our hope was never meant to rest on how we feel, how much money we have, the results of a medical test, or whether life is unfolding according to our plans. Those things are constantly changing. Jesus Christ is not.<\/p>\n

It is easy to build our lives on temporary foundations. Some build on careers, others on relationships, health, achievements, or possessions. None of these things are wrong in themselves, but they were never meant to carry the weight of our hope. Eventually, every earthly foundation will be shaken.<\/p>\n

Jesus told a similar story in Matthew 7. Two men built houses. One built on sand; the other built on rock. The storm came to both houses. The difference wasn’t the storm it was the foundation. The house built on the rock stood because it rested on something stronger than the wind and the waves.<\/p>\n

Today, ask yourself: What is my hope resting on? If it is resting on anything other than Jesus Christ, it will eventually disappoint you. But if your hope is built on Him, you have a foundation that can never be shaken.<\/p>\n

Prayer for today<\/strong>: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me a foundation that will never fail. Forgive me for the times I have placed my hope in things that cannot last. Help me to build every part of my life upon Jesus Christ, trusting not in my own strength, my emotions, or my circumstances, but in Your unfailing love and faithfulness. When storms come, remind me that my foundation is secure because it is built upon You. May my hope always rest on Christ alone.
