Will Your Anchor Hold?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to hill<\/em>. Psalm 95:1-2<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Will Your Anchor Hold”<\/em> is a hymn that speaks to the steadfastness of our faith amidst the trials and storms of life. Written by Priscilla J. Owens, it begins with the powerful question: “Will your anchor hold in the storms of life, when the clouds unfold their wings of strife?” This hymn emphasizes the importance of having a firm anchor, our faith in Jesus Christ, to keep us secure and steady through life’s turbulent times.<\/p>\n

The question the hymn asks is one that every believer will eventually have to answer. Not if the storms come, but when they come.<\/p>\n

Storms are a part of life. Some storms arrive suddenly with a phone call from the doctor. Others develop slowly through financial struggles, broken relationships, disappointment, or seasons of uncertainty. None of us are exempt from life’s storms.<\/p>\n

The real question is not, “How strong is the storm?” but rather, “How secure is my anchor?”<\/p>\n

The hope of the Bible is compared to a ship on the sea that is threatened by raging storms that drive the ship from its intended course. Our hope is our anchor. As the ship’s anchor reaches down to the seafloor, out of sight, so the Christian’s anchor rises out of sight into heaven.\u00a0 When it strikes solid ground there, it is fixed!<\/p>\n

May we make sure our anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock, Jesus our Lord.\u00a0 May we be fastened to the Solid Rock that “keeps the soul steadfast and sure while the billows roll.”<\/em>\u00a0 May our anchor hold to the Rock, which “cannot move, grounded firm and deep in the Savior’s love.”\u00a0 Our only hope! May the Lord be our Anchor, as our soul’s refuge, in times of trouble and “stormy seas.”\u00a0 May God’s Word, prayer, and songs of praise be our anchors in all of our troubled times.\u00a0 May we hold fast to our true Anchor lest we drift away.\u00a0 May we all be encouraged by the hope that is set before us, which we have as an anchor of the soul.<\/p>\n

Prayer for today<\/strong>: Dear God, thank You for being the anchor that keeps me safe and secure during life storms. As we sing unto You today, help us to remember that our faith in You is what keeps us steady and secure. Strengthen our faith and help us to trust in Your unfailing love and protection. Amen.<\/em><\/p>\n
