{"id":4555,"date":"2026-06-22T02:43:10","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T02:43:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cornerstonecem.org\/blog\/?p=4555"},"modified":"2026-06-07T22:45:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-07T22:45:15","slug":"my-strength-is-in-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cornerstonecem.org\/blog\/my-strength-is-in-god\/","title":{"rendered":"My Strength is In God"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>Monday, June 22<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>My Strength is In God<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. <\/em><strong>Psalm 73:26<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What a declaration this is!\u00a0 In many of the psalms, David is crying out in distress: \u201cGod, save me! I\u2019m in trouble! People are attacking me! My enemies are pursuing me!\u201d In others, David is desperate. He knows he has done deep wrong, and he doesn\u2019t know how to put it right. He spills it all out to God, asking God to cleanse him and forgive his wrongdoing. He goes through deep shame, terrible shame for his adultery with Bathsheba. We can follow the process through, as he knows that God has truly and deeply forgiven him and released him from the darkness of that appalling series of events. But here David declares, God through it all, You\u2019ve been my strength and my portion.<\/p>\n<p>Some of these early psalms are full of joy. Others end in joy, after David has worked his way through the horrors of what he is enduring, like being hunted and pursued by King Saul and his troops in the desert, high and low, running for his life. This man is real. Now, still only part-way through my readings, I\u2019m thinking that David doesn\u2019t cover up his highs and his lows. This is real, desperate and, above all, emotional stuff. And, what\u2019s more, we realize that God is also real. God is emotional. God is real and God is there.<\/p>\n<p>The same is true for you and I today, God is all that we need. He will hang onto us through thick and thin. My nerve might fail, my body might fail, but God\u2019s strengthen is something deep within me<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prayer for today<\/strong>: <em>Father God, thank You that I can be real with You. You can take all my rubbish and mess and I can know the freedom of Your forgiveness for me. I can know You guiding every step I take, holding me safely. I can know You strengthening me deep inside and know that You are with me every moment of my life and into eternity. I welcome Your Presence upon me today.
