This is the verse that hinges upon which the entire story turns. The Gibeonites showed them bread, but God could have shown them the truth. The leaders examined the evidence, but they never invited God into the examination. They considered the bread, but they did not consult the Lord. They never prayed.<\/p>\n<p>One of the greatest dangers for believers is making informed decisions without seeking God. We gather information, compare options, and weigh pros and cons, but never forget to consult the Lord.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prayer for today<\/strong>: <em>Loving Father, I am sorry. I confess that there have been times when I have examined the bread but failed to consult You. There have been moments when we trusted our own understanding, relied on our own judgment, and moved ahead without seeking Your counsel. Forgive me for those times when I have allowed information to replace prayer, appearances to replace discernment, and self-reliance to replace dependence upon You. Father, help me become someone who seeks You first. Before I make decisions, open doors, or move forward, remind me to seek Your wisdom. Let prayer become my first response rather than my last resort.
