And Moses said to them, “It is the bread that the LORD has given you to eat. Exodus 16:15

Jesus tells us in the Gospel of Matthew, “Ask and you will receive.” But if we’re honest, sometimes you’re not so sure that applies to you, because what showed up in your life doesn’t look anything like what you prayed for. You asked for help, but what came felt harder. You asked for clarity, but what you got felt confusing. You asked for change, but what came looked nothing like the answer you had in mind. Israel asked, “What is it?” while standing in the middle of God’s provision. The miracle didn’t match their expectation, so they almost missed it.

Confusion isn’t the real danger, it’s what follows. If we misinterpret what God is doing, we can draw the wrong conclusions. Israel didn’t just say, “What is this?” They followed it with, “God must have brought us here to die.”

That’s the shift from uncertainty to accusation. We do the same when we assume that God is not working, but limited perspective doesn’t equal absent provision. We often assume God’s answers will look familiar, obvious, or immediate. But sometimes His provision shows up in forms we don’t recognize opportunities that feel inconvenient, processes instead of breakthroughs, or small beginnings instead of finished solutions. Just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean it isn’t from God.

Today I encourage you to write down one thing in your life right now that feels confusing. Pray over it and ask God for direction

Prayer for today: Faithful God, thank You that even when we don’t recognize it, You are providing. Even when we question, You are faithful. Even when we complain, You are still working.
