They moved to Moab, planning to be there for just a little bit (Ruth 1:1). Her two sons married women from Moab and the whole family settled there. (Ruth 1:2). And then tragedy strikes. In one chapter Naomi lost her husband and then her two sons. She returned to Bethlehem empty and grieving.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the Book of Ruth 1, her flaw wasn\u2019t sin, it was despair. She says in Ruth 1:20 \u201c<em>Don\u2019t call me Naomi. Call me Mara,\u201d she answered, \u201cfor the Almighty has made me very bitter.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 She renamed herself Mara, meaning bitter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But God was quietly working through her daughter-in-law Ruth. What Naomi thought was the end was actually the beginning of restoration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Naomi had lost her husband and her sons. Her heart was shattered. She was bitter, broken, and deeply hurt. But by the end of the book, Naomi is holding a grandson Obed who would become the grandfather of King David. From emptiness to legacy. Grief may change your language, but it does not cancel God\u2019s plan. Life just happens sometimes, the enemy is not letting up but no matter what remember this, God is in control.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this Year of Purpose, even seasons of loss can carry seeds of redemption.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Prayer for today<\/strong>:\u00a0<em>Father, heal the bitter places in my heart. Where I feel empty, fill me again. Help me trust that even when I cannot see it, You are working behind the scenes. Turn my mourning into joy and my loss into legacy.
