Even if you find yourself in a season of deep passion for the Lord and desire to pray, life has demands and distractions that we must all tend to. We must work our jobs, eat food, care for our kids, and talk to our neighbors. But God is not asking for us to stop any of these activities. To pray without ceasing is to live with an abiding awareness of the nearness of God. At times, our prayers may be structured and extended, time set apart to commune with Him in a deep and rich way. However, if prayer is an ongoing conversation with God, the conversation doesn’t end when our “quiet time” is over. We continue to pray by abiding in him as he abides in us, and as we do, slowly but surely, we learn that “praying without ceasing” is not an impossible standard that can never be reached but is the key to encountering the life of Christ in the everyday moments of everyday life.

This week, remember in “…pray without ceasing…” prayer is not meant to be a last resort—it’s our first line of connection to the Father.
