The anchor doesn’t stop the wind from blowing. Instead, it provides peace in the midst of the storm. We see this in Matthew 8:23–27 where Jesus Calms a Storm “And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”

It is the anchor that keeps us steady, despite the raging storm.

Know this, the storm will come but it will not consume us. You might sway, but you won’t sink. You might bend, but you won’t break. Because your faith is not rooted in the calm, it’s rooted in Christ. The storm may move around you, but it can’t move what God has placed in you. Psalm 46:1 reminds us, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” The presence of trouble doesn’t mean the absence of God; it’s often the proof that your anchor is working.

Be encouraged this week and understand that peace isn’t the absence of problems; it’s the presence of stability in them.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, I trust that even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I have nothing to fear because Your Word tells me that You are right there with me. Keep my soul anchored in Your truth and grounded in Your love.
