The writer of Hebrews gives us the answer plainly “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul.” The Anchor is hope, but not just any hope it is hope in The One who keeps us from falling, this hope is found in Jesus.

When you read Hebrews 6 in context, you see the anchor is not an idea it’s a person. The passage reminds us that Jesus has “entered behind the curtain,” a reference to the Holy of Holies, the place of God’s presence.

That means our anchor is tied directly to the presence of Jesus.

Not to the economy.

Not to relationships.

Not to the ever-changing tides of emotion or circumstance.

Our anchor is secured in the eternal presence of Christ the one who never changes, never fails, and never lets go. Here’s a snippet from the worship song I Know A Name that echoes this truth:

“I know a Name that can silence roaring waves… I call You Jesus…”

This piece of lyric reminds us that the Name of Jesus is more than a title: it is authority, hope, rescue, life. That’s why, when everything else is shifting beneath us, we can remain steady. Because the One who holds us is unshakable.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, You are my hope!
