Adding surely, communicates the depth or the strength of my love. David says that goodness and mercy would \u201csurely\u201d follow him, all the days of his life! Knowing that he was back in the fold with God, David spoke with confidence and promise. I read the Hebrew word used for \u201c<em>follow<\/em>\u201d implies a pursuit, almost like being chased down. David is drawing a vivid contrast between the fear of being hunted by enemies and the joy of being lovingly pursued by God.<\/p>\n<p>God doesn\u2019t just walk behind you; He follows with intention. His goodness and mercy pursue you even when you can\u2019t see it, feel it, or believe it. This pursuit isn&#8217;t passive; it&#8217;s persistent.<\/p>\n<p>David\u2019s greatest longing is not just to be rescued but to dwell in the Lord\u2019s presence forever. The word \u201c<em>dwell<\/em>\u201d here is rich with meaning. It doesn\u2019t speak of a quick visit or a passing moment; it means to reside, to abide, to make a home with God.<\/p>\n<p>That same invitation is extended to us: to be pursued by mercy and planted in His presence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prayer for today<\/strong>:<em> Good Shepherd, thank You for pursuing me with Your unrelenting mercy and grace. Even when I wander, You seek me out. Plant me in Your presence today. Teach me to rest in the safety of Your house, not just for a moment, but forever.
