David refers to his situation as a “just cause.” He wasn’t being hypocritical; he was sincere and righteous in presenting his case to God. Unlike his enemies who falsely accused him, David was free of deceit. He had not lied about others or misrepresented his own circumstances. In his heart, he knew he had not sinned.

David also believed that the Lord would not hear his prayers if his heart harbored sin. This reveals an important principle: Integrity matters in our relationship with God. When we find ourselves in moments of turmoil, crisis, betrayal, or trial those unexpected disruptions that seem to shake us to the core God is still at work. Even when the world feels upside down, God’s providence is at play. As Proverbs 16:9 reminds us, “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.”

Prayer for today: Lord, when I feel misunderstood or wronged, help me to trust in Your righteous judgment.
