Consider these examples, the Hebrews groan in their slavery (Exodus 3). Wisdom cries out (Proverbs 8). God shouts aloud (Isaiah 42). Jesus prays with loud cries and tears (Hebrews 5) and even creation groans (Romans 8). Recently celebrated, the day of Pentecost. On the day of Pentecost they heard \u2018<em>a sound like the blowing of a violent wind\u2019<\/em> that \u2018<em>came from heaven\u2019<\/em> (Acts 2:2). In today\u2019s passages we hear other sounds going to and from heaven.<\/p>\n<p>God\u2019s word is realistic. There are times when we are \u2018in pain and distress\u2019 (Psalm 69:29). David doesn\u2019t try to ignore the problems he faces. Yet, he still chooses to worship God in spite of his circumstances. David has an assurance, when he cries out to God, his Father, he hears. Even in the depths, you can still be sure of who God is and worship him \u2013 whatever your circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>Note also, this psalm ends with the sound of worship. \u2018<em>I will praise God\u2019s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving \u2026 Let heaven and earth praise him\u2019<\/em> (verses.30, 34). Worship goes on not only on earth, but also in heaven. When you worship, you are joining in the sounds of heaven. When you worship you are involving your will (the very inner being). David says, \u2018I will praise God\u2019s name\u2019 (verse 30). You may not always feel like worshiping God but it is a decision you make; it is an act of the will. Why? Because your worship pleases God and it affects others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prayer for today<\/strong>: <em>Lord, whatever my circumstances, help me to praise your name in song and glorify you with thanksgiving.
