Disaster<\/strong><\/p>\n

Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday.\u00a0<\/em>Psalm 91:6<\/strong><\/p>\n

God\u2019s Word promises that He is sovereign, and so we can trust Him (Psalm 91:1\u20132), but that does not mean we are guaranteed absolute invincibility. Jesus, in fact, refuted such interpretations when He rejected Satan’s twisted use of this very psalm in Matthew 4. The imagery here refers not only to sickness (disease) but also to disasters. Destruction takes in the evils over which mankind has no control\u2014those things that the world ignorantly calls acts of God: earthquakes, tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, fire, etc. God very plainly tells us that we are not to fear disaster. These natural disasters are not coming from God.<\/p>\n

There is no place in the physical world where you can go and be safe from every destruction\u2014every natural disaster will come. We live in a sinful world. We can never anticipate what might come when we least expect it. But no matter where you are in the world, God says to run to His shelter where you will not be afraid of the destruction\u2026it will not approach you! In the Father\u2019s House there is safety.<\/p>\n

God lets us know in Psalm 91, \u201cYou will not be afraid of terror, arrows, pestilence or destruction because I have said in My Word that it will not approach you\u2014if you are obedient to verses one and two to dwell in My shelter and abide in My shadow<\/em>.\u201d And, of course, we cannot dwell and abide in Him apart from Jesus. But, praise God\u2014because of the shed Blood of the Cross, it has now been made possible.<\/p>\n

Prayer for today<\/strong>:\u00a0Lord, I trust in You as my source of safety. Just as You\u2019ve kept your children in times past, I know You can do it again.
