Sadly, it’s also one of the most misquoted and misunderstood verses in the God’s Word when it’s not read in its entirety. Some may wonder how things like death and disease can work together for our good? How can God take a global pandemic and work that for our good? To understand the truth of Romans 8:28, we can’t just quote the first part of the verse: “And we know that in all things God works for the good...” and skip the rest, “of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28 is a promise for believers. Real believers. Those who understand that sometimes life is rough. Those who know God will lead you through the valley of the shadow, but we fear no evil because He is with us and with Him we win!

No matter how rose-colored our glasses are, there’s nothing good about cancer, eviction, or being fired. Until Jesus returns and conquers Satan once and for all, sin will continue to drag its poisonous tentacles across our world, damaging and destroying everything in its wake.

As long as we live in this world, there will be suffering. However, verses like Romans 8:28 assure us that no suffering is wasted, and God is always at work for our good and His glory. All things may not be good, but God can and will use all things for good.

Because of this, we can have hope.

Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, sometimes I can’t understand how you can bring beauty from the ashes of my life. But on days like today I know it is not my job to figure things out, all I need to do is believe. You say in your Word that without faith it is impossible to please you, and I want to please you. I want to trust you. In the might name of Jesus I ask, Amen.

Tuesday, January 24 Read The Entire Verse And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
