{"id":2036,"date":"2022-08-30T01:06:48","date_gmt":"2022-08-30T01:06:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cornerstonecem.org\/blog\/?p=2036"},"modified":"2022-08-26T16:32:19","modified_gmt":"2022-08-26T16:32:19","slug":"keep-at-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cornerstonecem.org\/blog\/keep-at-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Keep At It"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>Tuesday, August 30<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Keep At It \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. <\/em><strong>Philippians 3:12<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Have you ever watched an Olympic swimmer? Stroke after stroke, he takes what\u2019s in <em>front<\/em> of him and pushes it <em>behind<\/em> him, this movement then propels the swimmer towards the goal. The swimmer literally takes what stands between him and his goal, and uses it to get there. Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the challenges of living for Christ? I really want to encourage you to keep pressing. I know it can be hard, frustrating, exhausting, and disappointing along the way, but you will never know what lies on the other side if you do not keep pressing.<\/p>\n<p>In Philippians 3:12-14, Paul again wrote honestly about his Christian walk, admitting that he hadn\u2019t attained perfection: \u201cI press toward the goal for the prize.\u201d He identified this lifelong pilgrimage as \u201cthe upward call of God in Christ Jesus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes we despair and say, \u2018I\u2019m just keeping my head above water,\u2019 and that\u2019s ok as long as you keep \u2018stroking\u2019 and pressing on. It\u2019s when you feel backed into a corner with nowhere to turn, that you\u2019ve got to take hold of the faith God has placed within you and keep moving forward.<\/p>\n<p>The waters you\u2019re in don\u2019t determine your destiny; they either carry you over or take you under. It takes faith to keep going. When you quit, God can do nothing more for you! So today whether you\u2019re doing breaststroke, backstroke, or some other kind of stroke that nobody\u2019s ever heard of\u2014keep pressing on.<\/p>\n<p>Never underestimate the power of perseverance.
