{"id":1942,"date":"2022-07-18T01:41:07","date_gmt":"2022-07-18T01:41:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cornerstonecem.org\/blog\/?p=1942"},"modified":"2022-07-15T14:46:45","modified_gmt":"2022-07-15T14:46:45","slug":"the-tender-mercy-of-our-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cornerstonecem.org\/blog\/the-tender-mercy-of-our-god\/","title":{"rendered":"The Tender Mercy of Our God\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>Monday, July 18<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Tender Mercy of Our God\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. <\/em><strong>Colossians 3:12-13<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In Matthew chapter 5 Jesus invites us into the mercy circle: \u201c<em>Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy<\/em>.\u201d If the two most important commandments are to love God and love each other, then it is essential that we learn to build healthy relationships with one another. In today\u2019s verses taken from Colossian 3 Paul gives the prescription for building relationships, it says \u2018<em>put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do<\/em>.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps after reading this you are thinking, \u201cIs it possible to have a good relationship with everyone\u201d The answer to that is yes. If you\u2019ll consistently practice these qualities, you\u2019ll have healthy relationships. However, in order to do this you must \u201c<em>put to death your members which are on earth<\/em>\u2026\u201d (Colossians 3:5) \u2013 the flesh and, put on \u201c<em>tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another\u2026<\/em>\u201d (Colossians 3:12-13) \u2013 the spirit.<\/p>\n<p>When we remove self, and put on the tender mercies of God we can see people the way God view\u2019s them; with compassion and in the end build strong relationships with each other.
