For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.\u201d\u00a0<strong>Luke 1:18<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have you ever wanted something so bad, you waited years for it to come true and when it actually does you doubt it&#8217;s evening happening? The term we use for this is, \u2018I could pinch myself\u2019 this can\u2019t be real. This must be how Zechariah felt when the angel Gabriel appeared to him. Zechariah and Elizabeth waited a long time, hoping and praying to have children. But as the years passed and they grew old, it did not seem possible that this dream would ever come true. Yet one day the angel Gabriel appeared to him, saying Zechariah\u2019s future son would be great in the eyes of the Lord. His son would be John the Baptist\u2014the forerunner of Christ.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is where Zechariah gets in trouble. He asks how he would know for sure all this was true. It\u2019s not hard to picture Gabriel crooking an eyebrow, saying, \u201cHuh?\u201d Isn\u2019t this what you\u2019ve been praying, wishing, and asking for? But this isn\u2019t the response. Scripture says \u201c<em>And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at the appointed time<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, take comfort in our Father&#8217;s care. God repeatedly shows that He takes care of his own, and does immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine. Zechariah was blessed with a son beyond any he could have imagined\u2014surpassed only by Christ himself. When asked what his son\u2019s name would be, Zechariah wrote, \u201cHis name is John.\u201d With this renewed confidence of certainty and faith, his voice returned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What are you hoping for this\u00a0season? Are you setting your expectations low?<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Monday, December 20 God cares And Zacharias said to the angel, \u201cHow shall I know this?
